photochargeable flow battery

2015
A photochargeable flow battery has a first and a second half-cell (1, 2), wherein the first half-cell (1) comprises a column filled with an electrolyte chamber (5) to which a surface in communication with the electrolyte electrode (13) adjacent, said chamber (5) on the one hand from an electrolyte tank (9) and an electrolyte pump current (11) electrolyte circulation (7) is connected. The electrode (13) consists of a photo-semiconductor, located in front of a window (19) in the housing (3) of the battery is located. By the substitution of at least one of the two conventional electrodes (13, 15) of a flow battery by a photo-electrode (20, 21), it can be loaded directly with sunlight.
