Numerical Examination of 132/11 KV Sub Station through SVC FACTS device for Voltage Enhancement

2019
The most common problem in the heavily loaded power network is voltage disparity, due to the continuous variations in load. The continuous increase in power demand calls for a methodology to be developed so that power demand can be fulfilled. Hence there is need of such devices, which can minimize the power loss and voltage drop in the electrical power network. FACTS devices are a worthwhile option for improvement in voltage drop and reactive power instead of shunt capacitors and reactors. In this paper power flow analysis is done to find the parameters of a system so that the amount of voltage drop in the system has been found. The load flow analysis is constructed on 132 KV/11 KV sub network test system. The best location and size of SVC is identified and its impact on the test power system is analyzed for various voltage variation scenarios. Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP) is used for simulation studies and result analysis.
