Microcracking in concrete

1984
The effects of internal, microscopic defects or discontinuities on the macroscopic behavior of materials is an important study in itself. Although materials scientists have long worked on the effects of dislocations in metals, crystal defects in ceramics, and internal cracking in glass, it has only been relatively recently that attention has been given to the characterization of internal defects in concrete.
