An Efficient Algorithm for Fast Block-Matching Motion Estimation

With the improvement of living standards and the development of the Internet, video has become a significant way to acquire information from outside. Video compression coding is the inevitable choice to enhance the quality of videos and pictures beside the great relativities in video sequences. In this paper, we make the introduction of block-matching criterion and algorithm which are the key in processing the estimation of motion and compensation of video compression coding. On the basis of analyzing the regular block-matching criterion, we have proposed a modified matching criterion and algorithm to build the optimized model. The experimental data show that the algorithm proposed is a feasible and effective way to decrease the calculating time.
