Gagea spathacea (Hayne) Salisb. in the lowland woods of Eastern Friuli (NE Italy)

Summary Gagea spathacea, a central european-subatlantic species, has been found in the eastern friulian lowland near Cervignano (NE Italy), which represent the second certain found in Italy. The vegetation in which it occurs belongs to Quercus robur-Carpinus betulus woods. The limited total area of the stations found so far raises serious doubt as to the chances of survival of the populations, considering that they are in fact only within a few kilometres of each other.
