Lithuania Is Historically a Migration Culture

Lithuania, with a population of less than three million, is known as an emigration country. Examples of emigration from Lithuania could be noted already from the thirteenth century. However, the main flows started in the eighteenth century and continue until now. Historically, emigration from Lithuania could be divided into four periods. These periods, the main reasons of emigration and their particularities, are described in this chapter.
