The Result of Intensive Radiosonde Observation over Wuhan

2008
By analyzing the intensive Radiosonde data obtained at Wuhan (30.5°N, 114°E) from Jan 11 to 15, in 2006, the amplitude and phase (the Local Time corresponding to the maximum amplitude) of the diurnal tide of temperature and wind are studied, and compared with the statistical results at other sites. Great differences between them are found in amplitude, and attributed to the strong background wind in troposphere and steady weak wind in lower stratosphere. Steady diurnal variation of temperature appears above 23 km, and the same variation in pressure is found starting from lower altitude, which together suggest a weak diurnal variation in atmosphere density above 23 km, that approximates a constant at each height.
