Lossless Discrete Atomic Compression of Full Color Digital Images

In this paper, we consider discrete atomic compression (DAC) of full color digital images. DAC is a lossy compression algorithm. We show that lossless compression can be provided without significant changes of this algorithm. The main idea is to add compressed information about differences between the source image and the reconstructed one to the corresponding DAC-file. These data in combination with “lossy” part of DAC-file provide reconstruction of the image without any distortions. Also, we investigate efficiency of such an approach.
