Liquid collector and mixer combined mass transfer column.

2004
A liquid mix manifold for capturing and mixing liquid descending from an overlying zone in a mass transfer column or heat exchange manifold including: at least first and second sumps; at least one opening positioned in at least one of said first and second sumps through which liquid can drain from the at least one sump when present therein; at least two liquid collection regions at least partially defined by said first and second sumps; first and second sets of spaced channels for collecting liquid associated with each of said liquid collection regions; channels ascending vapor flow to a spacing between the liquid collection channels in each of said liquid collection regions; a plurality of baffles extending upward having surfaces for directing liquid when said overlying lower zone said liquid collection channels; and drainage holes arranged in said channels for collecting liquid to drain liquid from said collection channels liquid when present therein, wherein said first set of collection channels is associated with said first sump to allow liquid, when is present in the first collection channels, preferably flow through said drainage holes of the first set of channels for collecting liquid to said first sump for mixing therein and said second set of channels for collecting liquid is associated with said second sump to allow liquid, when present in the second collection channels, to preferentially flow through said drainage holes of the second set of liquid collection channels to said second sump for mixing therein.
