Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Pancreatic Cysts Ablation
2021
Pancreatic cystic lesions are a complicated matter because diagnosis and correct classification are still challenging. Even with all the available diagnostic techniques, risk stratification of mucinous pancreatic cysts has a vast gray area that makes difficult the correct management on a patient’s base. The current options are surgery and follow-up with the consequent risks of both choices. In recent years, EUS-guided cysts ablation has gained some interest, and many reports explored the technique. Results seem to be promising with good tolerability. Further studies of follow-up and technique improvement will tell us the impact of these procedures on the hard point: reduction of pancreatic cancer incidence in specific groups of patients.
