Bluetooth Hands free mobile phone with integrated cockpit HMI: a system solution for safe drive while communicating

Driver distraction is one of the main security issue in today's embedded communication systems. In order to allow the use of the personal mobile phone while driving, PSA and Siemens VDO Automotive jointly integrated a Bluetooth (1) hands free connectivity system dedicated to OEM applications using available electronic and HMI cockpit components. Such a system addresses current and future regulation issues as well as HMI factors. Specific usability tests method has been introduced by Siemens VDO Automotive in order to validate the system ergonomy and also to suggest future improvements.
