An Overview of Atmospheric Correction for GB-SAR

2019
Ground-based synthetic aperture radar (GB-SAR) has been developed rapidly in ground deformation measurement technology and its accuracy has been improved gradually. However, atmospheric effects greatly affect the accuracy of its deformation measurement. That how to effectively reduce the impact of the atmosphere on deformation measurement results has become an important research direction. This paper firstly introduces that how atmosphere affects the GB-SAR deformation measurement. Then, some common atmospheric correction methods, based on the physical characteristic of the atmosphere and the internal characteristics of radar images, are summarized. Further, we present some improved methods, which overcome shortcomings of common methods. Specifically, we hope that we can bring some new ideas for atmospheric correction. Finally, the application examples in the meteorological data correction and the permanent scatterer correction are presented.
