Investigation of boiling heat transfer by liquid crystal thermography

Abstract This paper discusses the advantages and limitations of liquid crystal thermography for providing the information required for the development of deterministic numerical models of nucleate boiling. Examples are given of studies of localised events that depend on the orientation of the heated wall, and of current work developing techniques to examine interactions between large groups of nucleation sites.
