Broadband up-conversion in SrLaAlO4: Yb3+/Ho3+/Mn4+ phosphor

2020
Abstract A series of SrLaAlO4 (SLA): Yb3+/Ho3+/Mn4+ phosphors have been synthesized via high-temperature solid-state reaction method. The SLA: Yb3+/Ho3+/Mn4+ phosphor shows a broadband red up-conversion luminescence band of 600–800 nm under the excitation of 980 nm laser excitation, which is composed of the Mn4+: 2Eg→4A2g and Ho3+: 5F5→5I8, 5S2/5F4→5I7 emissions. The Ho3+, Yb3+ and Mn4+ concentrations dependent up-conversion emission spectra, Mn4+ concentration dependent lifetime of Ho3+ 546 nm emission, and pumping power dependent up-conversion behaviors of the SLA: Yb3+/Ho3+/Mn4+ phosphor have been studied. It is believed that the Yb3+→Ho3+→Mn4+ energy transfer is responsible for the broadband red up-conversion, which provides reference significance for exploring novel up-conversion phosphors.
