Use of an Exogenous Nitric Oxide Generator for Treatment of Peritonitis

The Plazon device is a generator of exogenous nitric oxide. Endogenous nitric oxide has an antimicrobial effect; it stimulates macrophages and induction of cytokines, T-lymphocytes, and a number of immunoglobulins. It also has cytotoxic or cytoprotective properties depending on the conditions.
