Determination of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural in Xiaobanxia Tang

Objective: To establish an HPLC method for determination of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural in Xiaobanxia Tang.Method:A Lichrospher C18 column(4.6 mm × 150 mm,5 μm) was used with methanol-water(5 ∶ 95) as mobile phase.The flow rate was 1.0 mL.min-1,wavelength 283 nm,and the column temperature was at 30 ℃.Result:The linear range of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural was within 0.304-2.736 μg,r = 0.999 9,the average recovery was 96.18%(n = 5).Conclusion:This method has good reproducibility.It can be used for quality control in production of Xiaobanxia Tang.
