Research progress of relationship between vascular endothelial growth factor and bacterial meningitis

2015
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a kind of multifunctional cytokine (CK), which has specific effects on vascular endothelial cells by binding to its receptor. VEGF plays an important role in the occurrence and development of bacterial meningitis (BM). This article reviews the literatures on the characteristics of VEGF and its receptor VEGFR, biological effects, and summarizes the research progress of VEGF in BM. Key words: Vascular endothelial growth factor; Meningitis, bacterial
