A Phase Current Compensation Control for Comfort and Handling stability Improvement in In-Wheel Motor Driven Vehicles

2020
In recent years, the automotive industry has experienced an increasing demand for highly efficient and compact power transmissions. Independent-wheel drive electric vehicles with in-wheel motor (IWM) system, which integrates multiple functions assembled, has brought significant attention. However, the advantages are overshadowed by its inherent noise and vibration due to the weak damping structure. In this paper, some factors behind medium frequency noise and torque ripple of SR motor are investigated. A phase current balance control strategy to improve output torque ripple in operation are proposed. Results show that the medium frequency noise and torque ripple can be eliminated by applying the proposed current balance control strategy.
