The Effect of Lipopolysaccharide from Helicobacter SPP. And Campylobacter SPP. On Pepsinogen Release by Gastric Mucosa

1996
Our previous work has shown that lipopolysaccharide (LPS) isolated from H.pylori stimulates the release of pepsinogen by guinea pig gastric mucosa in an Ussing chamber model5. The question arises whether LPS from other Helicobacter species, such as the non-pathogenic H.nemestrinae, or from other bacteria found in the gut, has any effect on pepsinogen release. The aim of the study was to examine the effect on pepsinogen release of lipopolysaccharide isolated from various gut-associated bacteria.
