Fault Detection and Diagnosis Based on Time Petri Net

2007
Fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) for discrete event system (DES) is a crucial task in automatic control. Petri nets have been widely used to model and analyze DES because of the ability of capturing asynchronous and concurrent system dynamics, and time Petri net is a kind of time extension of Petri net. We know that the Petri net of given system can't be diagnosable when there exists uncertain cycle, this is the limitation of fault detection and diagnosis using untimed Petri net. To overcome the limitation, we introduce the time Petri net (TPN) to model the system in this paper. According to the observed events and time, we show how to perform fault detection and diagnosis by the time-analysis. The method proposed in this paper can realize the fault diagnosis that can't be diagnosed due to the existence of uncertain cycle such as F-confused place. Furthermore, the method can diagnose the time-dependent fault in system. The method is straightforward and available. One example is provided for illustration.
