MoS2/NGP hierarchical hybrid composites synthesized via in–situ microwave method

2020
In the present work, a facile, in-situ, rapid microwave synthesis approach has been developed to prepare Molybdenum disulphide/Nanographitic Platlet (MoS2/NGP) hierarchical hybrid composites. The precursor compound used for the synthesis of MoS2 is Ammonium tetrathiomolybdate and hydrazine is used as a reducing agent. The reaction is carried out under microwave irradiation in the presence of NGPs to prepare the MoS2/NGP hierarchical composites. The composites were characterized for their structural properties by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy–dispersive X-ray (EDAX) and X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD) studies. SEM images and XRD pattern confirms the hierarchical structure of the composites with MoS2 layers well supported on the NGP surface. The hierarchical structure of the MoS2/NGP composites provides the large exposed surface area for better catalytic and electrochemical activities. The simple and rapid microwave synthesis method paves the way for exploitation of such hierarchical composites for the above said applications.
