Enhancement of operational planning processes though automated data integration

2015
The majority of operational planning processes are currently performed using commercially available power systems analysis software. Despite this, there remain excessive manual procedures for data acquisition, transfer and revision that slow down the overall operational planning process. This paper presents automated data integration procedures as developed in DigSILENT Power Factory that serve to automatically exchange essential data between different cardinal points on the demand curve. The purpose of this is to reduce the manual intervention and accelerate the operational planning process. The faster the whole process produces results, the more efficient the operational planning process will become. These automated data integration procedures are validated through rigorous testing after performing network reduction and creating general load objects for enhancing stability representation on the full operational GB transmission network model used in National Grid, UK.
