Complete set of waveguide, elements for extremelly high frequency

1996
In this abstract we describe the characteristics of functional elements for short -wave millimeter and submillimeter wave (extremally high frequency) bands, designed on basis of ,,broad" metal-dielectric wavequide (MDW). MDW represents an oversized metal wavequide, which walls is coated by a dielectric material of antiresonance thickness. The main advantage of MDW, as compared to the known wavaquide system in this frequency band, are as follows: (1) low per meter losses; (2) linearly polarized mode' in the wavequide makes possibility the use of small-period gratings for the wavequide devices; (3) high-order modes are self-filtered by MDW, (4) low longitudinal currents make simple the MDW and its functional elements technology, particullarly in the form of microwave modules.
