Research on Self-Powered Rotation Speed Sensor for Drill Pipe Based on Triboelectric-Electromagnetic Hybrid Nanogenerator

2021
Abstract The rotation speed of the drill pipe is one of the key parameters for adjusting the drilling technology, so it needs to be monitored in real-time. Here, a self-powered rotation speed sensor for drill pipe based on the triboelectric-electromagnetic hybrid nanogenerators (NG) is proposed in this paper, and the triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) and the electromagnetic generator (EMG) parts of the sensor can be used independently as the rotation speed sensor and generator, which shows high reliability. Test results show that when the TENG part is selected as the sensor, the measurement range is 0 to 1000 rpm,the sensitivity is 0.033 Hz/rpm, the measurement error is less than 3%, and the maximum output voltage, current and power are respectively 15.08 V, 1.05 uA and 3.4 u W. And when the EMG part is selected as the sensor, the measurement range is 0 to 1000 rpm, the sensitivity is 0.017 Hz/rpm, the measurement error is less than 5%, and the maximum output voltage, current and power are respectively 3.31 V, 43.25 mA, and 36.5 mW. In addition, the combined use of TENG and EMG increases the reliability of the sensor, and the output current can be connected in parallel to increase the output power, which is very suitable for the drilling environments.
