At the moment shape memory technology is booming in certain fields of application. Unfortunately improper design and setbacks occur frequently, because of the insufficient consideration of the boundary conditions and material properties. This includes particularly manufacturing aspects, which are already defined in the design phase. To support successful developments with the shape memory technology, manufacturing information with relevance to the design is made available by a knowledge base for designing with shape memory alloys.
