Out-of-phase automatic reclosing in distributed generation systems with voltage source inverters

2015
This paper presents an analysis of impacts caused by out-of-phase automatic reclosing in grid connected distributed generation systems. The automatic reclosing is the reconnection of a feeder in case a fault is established. Out-of-phase reconnection can damage the utility and customer equipments. Two scenarios are discussed in this paper: in the first approach, it is considered that the distributed generation system did not detect the islanding and it is operating with current control in the moment of reclosing; in the second scenario, the reclosing occurs when the generation systems is operating with voltage control, after the islanding is detected. Firstly, the control structure and the synchronization algorithm are presented. With the aim to evaluate the impact of the out-of-phase automatic reclosing, simulations and experimental results are presented in the paper.
