Discrete Hilbert Transform as Minimum Phase Type Filter for the forecasting and the characterization of wind speed

2012
Discrete Hilbert Transform is generally used for the Communication Engineering Purpose. This paper introduces a new concept for wind speed characterization & forecasting by using DHT as Minimum Phase type Filter in the field of Wind Engineering. We know that the electric field of the Electromagnetic wave is perpendicular to the ground. Due to the polarization effect between the vertical electric field of the electromagnetic wave and horizontal discrete wind particles, 90°phase delay occurs. Due to this reason in this paper, we introduce a concept of Discrete Hilbert Transform (DHT), which is a 90°phase shifter, for the characterization and forecasting of the Wind speed. In Winter due to less convection process the agitation between discrete wind particles are less, so the phase deflection between discrete wind particles are negligible. As a result exact 90° phase shift occurs due to polarization, so DHT can easily be applicable. The problem occurs in Summer, where due to high convection process the agitation between discrete wind particles are high, so the phase deflection occurs between the discrete wind particles, as a result we don't have the exact phase shift of 90°. The solution of this problem is done here by introducing the concept of DHT as Minimum Phase type Filter for the Wind Speed characterization and forecasting.
