Summary and Future Work

2018
The light element lithium allows to study several different processes in astrophysics. It is one of the few elements that is produced immediately after the Big Bang, and it is also used extensively as a proxy for mixing inside stars, being very sensitive to environmental conditions. Although it is produced inside stars by nuclear burning, it is rapidly burned by proton capture inside low-mass stars during the main sequence. When the star enters its post-main sequence evolution, the surface composition changes due to the first dredge up. As Li was greatly depleted in the stellar interior during the main sequence, its surface abundance will be diluted during the deepening of the convective envelope, thus predicting giants with very low surface lithium abundances.
