Analysis and modelling of rotor eccentricity for switched reluctance machines

2014
Rotor eccentricity is expected to cause vibrational and acoustic noise due to periodic unbalanced radial tooth forces. It thus should be analysed and modelled during the motor design even if no faults are present. The paper focuses on the consequences of rotor eccentricity using finite element analysis. Furthermore, a possible machine model for eccentricity simulation in a drive system is presented. Especially, resulting torque characteristics, radial tooth forces and asymmetrical flux linkage distribution is investigated for a 18/12 hiRotor eccentricity is expected to cause vibrational and acoustic noise due to periodic unbalanced radial tooth forces.
