Separation of germanium and molybdenum by extraction chromatography

A chromatographic method for simultaneous determination of Ge and Mo is reported.In 6 mol·L -1 hydrochloric acid,Ge, Mo and some other metal ions were extracted into kieselguhr TBP column. Ge was first stripped by 4 mol·L -1 hydrochloric acid. The column was then washed with 3 mol·L -1 hydrochloric acid containning ascorbic acid to remove the elements such as W,Sb,Fe absorbed on the column.Mo was then stripped with 0.5 hydrochloric acid.Ge and Mo in eluate were finally determinated by spectrophotometry.
