A speaker for a portable telephone is disclosed, which is suitable for installation without connecting by adhesive. The speaker has a protective cap having a plurality of sound holes, and an annular clamping portion thereof formed on a circumference and extending upwardly and outwardly; has a frame with a stepped portion and a cylindrical wall extending upwardly from the periphery of the stepped portion and fastening means; a diaphragm which is seated on the stepped portion of the frame and is provided for generating sound; a voice coil that is attached to an underside of the diaphragm and formed to vibrate; a cover plate in the voice coil and a fixedly arranged between the cover plate and the frame and to produce a defined magnetic field formed magnets.
