Health Mapping of Women and Children Biri Binders of Block I and Block II of District Bankura, West Bengal, India

2013
GIS provides a way to move data from the project level so that it can be used by the entire organization. Health mapping of incidence of asthma of biri workers were depicted clearly through GIS. It can help planners and Doctors in identifying the cause of a disease and clinical and administrative information can be disseminated in a visual and geographic manner that is readily understood. Using GIS for demographic analysis to estimate the demand for various types of services can benefit individual physicians. GIS has helped the health care industry manage resources and personnel in of the same ways it has helped other consumer service enterprises. The poor respiratory conditions of the workers have been observed. The urgent necessity to diversify them has been realized. A Geographical Information System right from recording data, making available hardware and software, using the collected data for analysis, to suggesting measures for decision making and policy planning has been successfully used. The methodology ranged from running questionnaires on the field, interactive sessions with the workers, data entry to analysis of independent and dependent data and development of indices. Medical camps were conducted seasonally with spirometers for pulmonary function tests. Air samplers were used for studying environmental conditions. The observed and analyzed problems may be prevented from taking a hazardous form with proper diversification.
