MEIOTIC AND MITOTIC CHROMOSOMES OF THE COTTON BOLL WEEVIL (COLEOPTERA: CURCULIONIDAE)

1981
Karyotypic analyses of mitotic and meiotic chromosomes of the cotton boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis grandis Boheman, revealed the diploid number to be 42 (20 autosomes plus an Xy). The Xy has the typical parachute shape configuration as described for other related species. The evidence for supernumerary chromosomes is also presented.
