Finding the Percentage Effectiveness of Agile Manufacturing Barriers: An AHP Approach

2020
In this era of twenty-first century, manufacturing companies face problems due to the dynamic and continuous change in customer demand and intense competition among manufacturing organization. Nowadays, customer desire that the product they want should come in their hand at minimum time with least lead time. Agile manufacturing is the best paradigm to achieve this. Agile manufacturing is defined as the manufacturing practices which allow manufacturing facility to respond quickly and effectively according to the future unforeseen condition. The manufacturing facility of agile manufacturing is reconfigurable in such a way that it takes minimum effort and time to change the manufacturing facility layout. In this paper we utilize the ranking of barriers to the agile manufacturing which is already developed by the ISM methodology; as ISM cannot quantify the effectiveness of barriers, AHP is applied to find the effectiveness of barriers to agile manufacturing. We found out that lack of top management support, non-conductance of meeting, and lack of methodology are the barriers which have high effectiveness among the other barriers.
