Ultra-Long-Haul WDM transmission systems

This paper discusses the key transmission issues and design considerations for ultra-long-haul WDM systems. The key enabling technologies for the current generation of ultra-long-haul WDM transmission are described. Noise analysis and transmission modelling results are presented, and an overview of the developing transmission technology is also given.
