IVHS AT THE BORDERS: THE ONTARIO/MICHIGAN CROSSOVER STRATEGY

1992
The objective of this study is to identify and evaluate and deploy technologies that could be implemented to facilitate the flow of traffic between the U.S. and Canada at the St. Clair and Detroit Rivers border crossings. This study actually arose from an earlier study, which was called the St. Clair and Detroit Rivers international crossings study. The participants include: the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, Michigan DOT, Transport Canada, and FHWA. Also included are U.S. and Canadian customs, U.S. and Canada Immigration, the three bridge and tunnel operators, the trucking associations, both the Ontario Trucking Association and the Michigan Trucking Association, and the customs brokers on both sides of the border.
