Application of micro electronic surveillance and calibration (MESAC) techniques to nuclear process instrumentation

1986
MESAC as a test system has been designed and developed for dynamic testing of the Westinghouse 7300 process instrumentation system. Instrument loops which possess dynamic compensation functions cannot be field calibrated by conventional methods without first disabling those functions. MESAC testing permits real time simulation of the component's response to a given input function which is recorded to a given input function which is recorded for immediate display and analysis. Preliminary findings indicate that the MESAC system yields superior results in terms of execution time, ease of operation and quality of data. This system offers expanded test capabilities and a reduction in the likelihood of inadvertent reactor trips.
