Influence of Needle Punch Density on Mechanical Properties of Jute/Glass Hybrid Composites

2018
Glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP) have been used for in wide range and approximately 70 years passed. Hand lay-up method is the most primitive molding method. This method can utilize the property of unsaturated polyester resin curing at normal temperature and normal pressure with solventless liquid resin. Fabricate the Jute/Glass hybrid composite with needle punch density 1, 2, 3, 77 and without needle punch. Flexural test and the short-beam test was conducted. Density2 compression from Jute side was 103MPa, 56% higher than without needle punch (61MPa). Interlaminate fracture occurred the only specimen on without needle punch compression from Glass side.
