Influence of siliceous materials on chloride attack of ordinary Portland and and alumina cement composite

2003
The effect of some siliceous materials, i.e. silica fume or granulate mina cement (HAC) substitutes on chloride attack of ordinary Portland and alumina cement composite up to complete substitution and 12 months was studied. The results indicate that the cement pastes with silica fume give higher combined water and lower free lime content than those containing granulated slag. The increase of HAC subtution by silica fume or granulated slag in the OPC-HAC composite decreases the aggressive attack of chloride ions on the hardened cement pastes, yet the granulated slag is more effective than the silica fume.
