Corrosion inhibitor by a polymerizable columnar mesogen based on hexabenzocoronene derivative

A novel polymerizable columnar mesogen, HBC‐1,2,4‐Ph‐DA‐C12, was successfully synthesized. Polymerization by ultraviolet irradiation in its liquid–crystalline state through the diacetylene side chains along the packing axis of the liquid crystalline columns gave oriented films. This material revealed a resistance of 185 and 149 kΩ/cm2 and high contact angle of ~114° and ~105° before and after polymerization, respectively.
