Ultra-Wideband H-Plane Horn Antenna for Radar and Sensing Applications

2019
This work proposes an ultra-wideband horn antenna for radar and sensing applications. Tapered ridge and ellipse-shaped copper tapes are employed to achieve wide bandwidth and good transition from the narrow horn throat to free space. Simulation results indicate that the proposed antenna can cover the operating frequency from 3.3 – 18.2 GHz and simultaneously maintain the antenna height of 5.508 mm. Good end-fire radiations are achieved within the whole operation band. Measurement results are in accordance with simulation ones.
