Advances in Application of Efficient Liquid Cooling Technique for Electronic Component Thermal Control

2008
With the rapid development of electronic technique, the power density of electronic devices is ex- tremely increased; however, their sizes are decreasing. More effective heat control is required. Liquid cooling is an efficient and promising way for electronic component thermal control. It plays an important role in the progress of electronic component. This paper mainly discussed principles of heat transfer enhancement, the current research effort and perspective applications of the three efficient heat transfer enhancement techniques, including micro-channel, porous media and low-melting-point liquid metal. Advantages and shortcomings of those techniques were evaluated. Prospect in the liquid cooling area was also stated.
