Eye movements and hippocampal theta activity in cats

Abstract Eye movements (EMs) occurred most often during wakefulness and “paradoxical” sleep and least frequent during slow wave sleep. Hippocampal theta activity appeared in a close association with EM and PGO spikes. This relation was shown even in the absence of skeletal movements or with passive EMs. Results were discussed in relation the previous theories of hippocampal theta rhythm'
