Determination of Paeoniflorin and Geniposide in Jiawei Xiaoyao Pills by High Performance Capillary Electrophoresis

Objective:To establish a new high performance capillary electrophoresis(HPCE) method for determination of paeoniflorin and geniposide in Jiawei Xiaoyao pills.Method: Paeoniflorin and geniposide in Jiawei Xiaoyao pill were determined by using HPCE.The background electrolyte system selected was 25 mmol·L-1 sodium borate buffer(pH was adjusted to 10.5 by caustic soda).Capillary electrophoresis was performed using 60 cm×50 μm fused silica capillary column,applied voltage was 25 kV;temperature was 25 ℃.The detection wavelength was set at 230 nm.Result:The linear range of paeoniflorin and geniposide was 0.008 1-0.162 6 g·L-1 and 0.023 8-0.475 6 g·L-1(r=0.999 8 and 0.999 7),and the average recovery was 99.67%(RSD 1.27%)and 99.36%(RSD 1.53%).Conclusion:The method is simple,rapid and reproducible,and could be used for the quality control of Jiawei Xiaoyao pills.
