Functionalized ionic liquids : absorption solvents for carbon dioxide and olefin separation

2008
This thesis studies the potential of the Room Temperature Ionic Liquids (RTILs) as absorption solvents for the separation of carbon dioxide/methane and ethylene/ethane. This chapter starts with an overview of the targeted industrial gas separations and identification of the possibilities for improvement. After that, ionic liquids and their intrinsic characteristics and possibilities are introduced. In the final section, the outline of the thesis is described.
