Evaluation for Fruit Production and Quality of Cherry Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L. var. cerasiforme)

2014
The present investigations were conducted during rabi season 2013–14 under All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Vegetable Crops at Horticultural Instructional cum Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, IGKV, Raipur(C.G.). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. 15 genotypes including Pusa Ruby of cherry tomato were evaluated of mean performance for yield and quality attributes with twenty five yield contributing characters. The earliest days to first flowering was noted in Cherry type-1 which was followed by Pusa Ruby. The earliest days to fruit set was noted in Pusa Ruby which was followed by Cherry Tomato-4 × Pant Tomato-3. The maximum average fruit weight, fruit length, fruit girth and fruit weight per plant was recorded in Cherry Tomato-8. The maximum pericarp thickness was observed in Pusa Ruby which was followed by Cherry Tomato-8. The maximum plant height was observed in Cherry Tomato-5. The maximum number of primary branches per plant was observed in Cherry Tomato-2. The highest mean for number of flowers per cluster, number of fruits per cluster and TSS was noted in Cherry type-1. The highest number of fruits per plant and maximum acidity was observed in Cherry Tomato-2. The highest total fruit yield was noted in Pusa Ruby which was followed by Cherry Tomato-8.
