The concept of high-impedance electromagnetic band-gap (HI-EBG) structures has been introduced in [1]. Several applications of these structures in antenna design and performance enhancement have been reported in [2]. Recently, more attention has been paid to high impedance surfaces (HISs) and their applications in the light of artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) concept [3].
