Teenage pregnancy can result in psychological, emotional and social overload for the adolescent's development, contributing to changes in her future life project, as well as in the perpetuation of the cycle of poverty, precarious education, lack of perspective on life, leisure and employment. and, consequently, in the search for better living conditions. This study aims to identify the teen pregnancy rate in a maternity hospital in the city of Nova Iguacu - RJ. This is an exploratory, descriptive study, with field research and a mixed approach (QUAN + QUAL) as its source of information. Data were collected between September 2019 and February 2020, at a Maternity Hospital in Baixada Fluminense located in the municipality of Nova Iguacu. 45 adolescents aged 14 to 19 years who were admitted to the maternity hospital were interviewed. The analysis of the interviewees' speeches allowed reflections on their perception in relation to the prevention of teenage pregnancy, which resulted in the categories described below: 1- demographic partner, 2 - knowledge of pregnant women, 3 - impact of pregnancy. The adolescents' knowledge about contraceptive methods, referring only to the following methods: the condom, hormonal contraceptives, in addition to the emergency conception. It is understood the need to expand actions and offer inputs from the different contraceptive methods for this audience, as well as the description of the advantages of such methods, helping the choice and use.
