Preliminary discussion on pressure measurement of pore water in warm frozen soil

2011
Indoor compression tests in two different methods was conducted to study the law of pore water pressure variation in warm frozen soil under variable temperature and variable load. One was the traditional compression test under a constant temperature and a step load(CTCTSL),the other was the compression test under a constant load and a step temperature(CTCLST).The relationship between pore water pressure and temperature variation and loads was analyzed simply from different perspectives.Experimental results revealed that pore water pressure variation was just a little sensitive to applied loads. However, temperature was the main factor influencing the timeliness of pore water pressure variation. The higher the temperature was,the quicker the response of pore water pressure was. While, the train of researching thoughts of developing small probe shaping like needles pressure transducer was proposed so as to deeply investigate pore water pressure in warm frozen soil.
