Provenance and recycling of detrital zircons from Cenozoic Altiplano strata and the crustal evolution of western South America from combined U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotopic analysis

Abstract U-Pb and Hf isotopic data of detrital zircons from Cenozoic Altiplano strata in southern Peru reveal the sediment provenance and crustal evolution of western South America. eHf(t) values range from − 32 to 13 (− 15.2 to 9.3 at 2σ). Results show five dominant age populations > 1300, 1300–900, 800–500, 350–200, and
